halloween...

October 31... Did you know that today was the day that Martin Luther posted his 95 theses back in 1517? There is some redeeming value to this day, huh?

I stole this saying from a friend... couldn't help myself when I saw it...

RAPELLING!!

40 MILLION DEAD AND COUNTING...

Abortion truely is a problem in America, and the numbers since 1973 bear this out dramataically. 40 million plus dead babies...all that lost potential if you want to look at from a standpoint of natural resources. But that's really a pretty mechannical perspective, though.

Interestingly enough, even politicians from both sides of the aisle say that we need to reduce the numbers of aborted babies. But how can that really be done?

The arguement that abortion levels could be lowered if birth control would be used more widely, and specifically the "morning after" pill (RU486) seem shallow. Wouldn't such an option actually promote sexual laxity? Wouldn't that decreased respect for the act of sex actually "produce" more of those pregnancies which would most likely be aborted?

The problem with this line of reasoning, "give 'em more birth control", is that it looks only to the mechanical side of human life. The mechanical ovulation, fertilization and the like is all that's considered.

There is a much more realistic way of understanding why Americans get abortions. Lack of respect for life. When you promote the prevention of life, you degrade the importance of life itself. How different is that from promoting abortion, the actual taking of life? If we had a real respect for life, it would affect the way we "express" our sexuality too. Sex wouldn't be such a casual and crude thing, but actually seen as sacred.

I wish this were a perfect world, because we wouldn't have to discuss sickening things like 40 million dead babies since Roe v. Wade in 1973. In a perfect would there would be no need for birth control because every concieved child would be in the womb of a parent with a full respect for the life she is carrying. The father would be more than just a sperm donor. He would be there to raise that "embryonic mass" made up of the combination of his wife's egg and his sperm into a loved, appreciated and whole human being.

Since this isn't a perfect world, might there be a place for some type of birth control? Such a sad option.

Children (only the combination of egg and sperm?) are worth so much more than we usually afford them. That includes a respect for the process of combination of egg and sperm. That process (sex) is actually a sacred thing. Only those with a deeper respect for life will understand and appreciate this. I hope this at least gives some good food for thought.

2000 AMERICANS DEAD in Iraq...

The American press continues to count down the dead soldiers in a very loud and public way. Read this article to get one person's view of their reporting:

Is this reminder of our American war dead an...

"artificial mark on the wall set by individuals or groups with
specific agendas and ulterior motives."

YES. Most definately. Those who have the agenda of us just getting out of the war in Iraq, and the war on terror, continue to remind the American people of the blood that is shed, they say needlessly.

I certainly do appreciate the blood that was shed to make the United States free and keep us free thoughout our history. Seems so many of these activists don't appreciate it, but only take it for granted.

In our current situation, think about this: those Islami-facists actually expect us soft-hearted Americans to pull out of this war...just like we did in places like Somolia and Viet Nam. When that happens, they'll flood in to fill the void. They know that the American people can take only "so much" blood, and they're just waiting for us to pull out.

President Bush said at the beginning of this "war on terror" that it
wasn't going to be a quick "in and out" thing. The victory here will belong to the most persistent side. So, do we pull out now, or continue to "stay the course", as Mr. Bush said just days after 9/11/2001??? There is only one good answer, and that's not what the "anti-war" fanatics would have you believe.

Why Harriet Miers??

Why Harriet Miers? She's the best candidate. I don't think so. She's the best female candidate...which is so important since she's replacing Sandra Day O'Connor? No, not even the best female candidate...at least I'm not convinced.

Nice lady, good Sunday School teacher, etc...but that doesn't cut it for the Supreme Court. You know, that lifetime appointment court where they say whatever they want to and the whole country has to go along with it.

I think it's time to ammend our Constitution to give Supreme court appointees a "term limit". Of course, they'd probably declare that unconstitutional, or at least they'd sure try! Talk about circular reasoning!

So, term limits on the SC in the near future, and for now we can at least put qualified candidates on it to begin with.

The Life and Times of...well, this is important st

Ok, here's my second attempt to do this. Actually I've tried over and over again to get back on my own blog...unsuccessfully. HAHA!! Here we go again...

Just got back from Spanish class. This is a real challenge to me. Got an A on the first test, a B on the second and last weeks was a C. I see a pattern emerging here... Must break it! I really like the class and it will be practical for me as a teacher. Conjugation of all those verbs...lots to memorize! But I just talked to a girl on the phone who was my interpreter in Ukraine years ago (she actually called my mom and I happened to be there) and of course she speaks Ukranian and English, also Russian, Spanish, French and German...all fluently! We Americans are the most "ignorant" when it comes to languages...and probably many other things too.

Well, I'm gonna see if I can get this on the blog...
